Memly has certainly been busy putting together a sweet little 6 track EP. This pounding little EP has set the cruise control at 127BPM and certainly chunks along.
Memly previously provided a remix on UK Beat Cartel’s debut EP Carousel/Suddenly which was only available to those who downloaded the entire release. This here sees Memly boshing out 6 of his own fine house tracks.

Breakspoll winners NAPT’s killer tune Make My Day originally by Technotronic has been given an even fresher reworking. This time featuring vocals from UK Grime MC Bashy. Normally I think that tunes don’t need a vocal once they break through but this one really works – I hope this one breaks through to the top 40!

Crackerz & Jam are back with a wicked little three track release on Dusted Breaks. This one features two original tunes as well as a remix by Chamber. First up is Can You Find Me which kicks off nicely with an old school piano riff before dropping into a nice little breakbeat driven number. It’s got enough nice little amen-esque builds in there to keep your head nodding adding variance to it’s main hook.
Next up is Freq which starts nice and calm before dropping a wickedly chunky bass hook. The bass groove on this has a nice little swagger, building and dropping quite nicely. The changes, builds and breakdowns in this mix really keep you interested right up to the end. This is my favourite tune on this release!
Chamber has provided the breakbeat remix for Freq on this release and it’s clings nicely to the original’s style and shuffle, but still allowing it to go in a different direction. The lead hook makes a few changes and twists, building into a rather manic breakdown.

Placing the word funk in your tune name is a brave, brave step to make, what if it’s not really funk, it shouldn’t be called funk! Cybass’s One More Funk does however deserve the accolade of having this in it’s title. She’s a synthy upbeat breakbeat little number with a funky disco style bassline driving through from start to finish. The vocal stabs and lead instrument have a slightly early Jackson 5 meets Daft Punk/Basement Jaxx feel to it and I can see this track getting people up dancing.
On the other side of this release is a creamy synth leaden breakbreat track called Our Feature Presentation, which is a little darker, but just as funky! The bassline is big, heavy and bouncy. It’s got loads of balls to it too! The changes in this come thick and fast. The breakdown features some really nice sounding drum fills and I really can’t wait to hear more from this fantastic brazaillian producer!

Dom Almond is back with another breakbeat release. First up is the rather driving Somber Bomb which starts off very hard and pounding before dropping into a huge trance style piano hook. The hook itself reminds me of early U2, but without the sunglasses and spinny cameras! By the time this one gets going its got some nice distorted chunky drive behind it. As it stops to take a breather in the middle that piano hook is back before stepping it up a gear and driving it home hard for the last two minutes!
On the flipside of this release it’s a much heavier affair, We Don’t Give a F@#K sums it up too. This balls to the wall track is heavy without being too unlistenable. The bass drive throughout it, always being there in the background, only stopping to breath while the amen loop kicks in. The lead synth sounds wicked, and it’s nice to hear it ad lib before dropping out for the last minute or so of the tune.
